Hi Stefan — The letter-writing campaign I referenced in my blog post ended a while ago–it was an effort to prevent the passage of the CRP in 2011.

I am not an expert in how to navigate historic preservation of one’s home. But you may get some help by calling the office of the Oakland County Planning Department. Here’s what I found online: https://www.oakgov.com/advantageoakland/planning/historicpreservation/Pages/default.aspx

Best of luck!

Although I know this building is nearly 100 years old and the first one constructed in the “new” neighborhood. Although I’ve been maintaining it since 1990, I don’t believe that it is in a designated Historic area. All the other architecture surrounding it is from the 1940’s and 50’s or later. I wish to continue rehabbing this property with improvements and could use some help. Any ideas how to qualify and to support your initiative ? I tried the link for a sample letter to the city council and it wouldn’t load. Also, I see Royal Oak is not on your list and would like to influence/change that. Please let me know.
